About me
Hi, I'm Fred, a coach and facilitator with a passion for bringing the best out of creative, innovative, and ambitious individuals, teams, and organizations.

Everything I do, I do with passion and enthusiasm. This extends to my belief in amplifying creativity, innovation, collaboration, compassion, business success, and happiness! I love my work with technologists, entrepreneurs, artists, managers, producers, and business leaders with a big vision for their world and a drive and ambition to make an impact.

All of my work is based on a core philosophy that growth comes from discomfort. We don't learn and stretch by being small and staying within our comfort zone. My job is to help you and/or your team get uncomfortable! To explore and dismantle your unique defense mechanisms and behaviour patterns that you may not even be consciously aware of, so that we can build new patterns that serve your full capability and potential.

Uncomfortable should never be unsafe though, so it is vital that we build a foundation of trust, support, partnership, genuine care, and that you know I truly believe in your bigger, brighter future, before I kick your ass to get you there!

Creative, Technical, and Management Experience
First I built a reputation for creative and technical problem solving, including some of the most technically challenging animated creatures, characters, and digital stunt doubles on some of the biggest Hollywood movies of recent decades.

Over the last decade+ my interest in problem solving was overtaken by my passion for leading and empowering driven artists, engineers, leaders, and visionaries, supporting them to achieve even greater successes and impact in dynamic and innovative industries.

For full details of my career, awards, and over 60 movie and episodic projects I directly contributed to, here are links to my IMDB and LinkedIn profiles.

Personal Life & Hobbies
I live in beautiful North Vancouver, BC, Canada with my amazing, inspiring wife, Laura. Update: Shortly to be joined by our twin babies!

We live on the edge of the forest, at the base of Mount Seymour, close to the ocean. Laura and I met while trail running in the local mountains and spending time in nature is essential for us.

I'm a nurturer at heart, and love growing vegetables, building wooden furniture, baking sourdough bread, cooking pizza in our outdoor oven.

I volunteer as a global board member for the Visual Effects Society and serve on their member education committee and as Co-Chair in Vancouver.

I identify as neurodivergent. ADHD can be my kryptonite, especially when I am working alone on a project with an unspecified delivery date. Most of the time it is my super power, allowing me to see deeper into situations and to join the dots in ways that others miss. I make mental leaps and bring new perspectives that open up understanding and dialogue. I'm also deeply empathic which helps me stay hyperfocused on the connection and conversation when with clients and teams.

I'm a former triathlete, having completed 2 Ironman endurance races and competed in world championships on both the British and Canadian Teams. For those who know Vancouver I once swam the 10km across English Bay, dodging the shipping tankers between West Vancouver underneath Cypress Mountain and Kitsilano Beach. I'm a former yogi, who practiced Ashtanga yoga for several years including 5 months in Mysore, India, with the then 90 year old K. Pattabhi Jois. Yes, I could easily pretzel myself, lifting myself off the ground, knees behind my shoulders and ankles crossed behind my neck. No, I definitely can't do that anymore!

Just in case you haven't got the message yet, I don't do things half-heartedly! When I commit to something, including giving my clients all the support they need to take on their toughest challenges and thrive, I'm all in.
